Teaching conditions in elementary schools and kindergartens turned out to be the issue of highest concern to the residents of Municipality Aerodrom.
This is the outcome of the first Forum session in the Community Forums Programme, which took place on October 28 at the elementary school Gjorgjija Pulevski. Of the three proposed topics, namely Urban Development of the Municipality Aerodrom, Utility Infrastructure and Education, the residents of Aerodrom chose the topic Infrastructural Improvements to Working Conditions in Elementary Schools and Kindergartens in Aerodrom.Accordingly, in the next six sessions there will be projects developed and solutions will be found in order to improve conditions in school and kindergarten buildings. The chosen project/s will be implemented and financed with MKD 6.6 million, of which MKD 4 million are donated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), MKD 2 million come from the Municipality Aerodrom, and MKD 600,000 are a contribution from the project carriers. At the start of the session, the participants were welcomed by Kristina Hadzi Vasileva from the Forum Coordination Unit, and Trajce Nedevski, Development Manager at MCIC, the organization implementing the Programme in Municipality Aerodrom. They underlined the necessity for citizens to take part in the debates in the biggest possible number, in order to translate the ideas into specific projects. Marjan Kelemen addressed the participants on behalf of Municipality Aerodrom, emphasizing that the Forum is merely a continuation of the Municipality's committment to transparency and immediacy in its work with citizens. The Forum also established its structure by creating six working tables which would defend their interests – Sports and Leisure, Environment, Education and Science, Labor and Social Issues, Energy, and Economy. ![]() Experts from the Municipality explained about the three topics and the types of projects that could result from them should they be chosen, with citizens adding to that by proposing specific ideas of their own, for instance to light up the space around the railroad near Srbija Blvd. or to build a city square. According to Elizabeta Tomevska from the Municipal Education Sector, repairs on all educational facilities would require as much as MKD 15 million, and that's why all donations are welcome to help address issues with the roofs, facades, doors and win dows, walls and floors, and toilets. The next session is scheduled for November 25 at the elementary School Gjorgija Pulevski. In addition to Aerodrom, this phase of the Community Forums Programme is taking place in 11 other municipalities - Bogovinje, Mogila, Novaci, Radovis, Konce, Gostivar, Makedonski Brod, Strumica, Berovo, Debar, and Krusevo. |
