The Foundation Open Society Institute - Macedonia (FOSIM)
was established in 1992 as the representative office a foreign person,
while in 1999 it was registered as national legal person - foundation,
in compliance with the Law on Citizens Associations and Foundations.
FOSIM is part of the SOROS Network in Central and Eastern Europe.
FOSIM's mission is internal integration of Macedonia as a precondition for the integration in the European Union. Dedicated to the promotion of open society, FOSIM initiates support and implements a wide range of programs. The Foundation meets its goals by means of:
"Community Forums" Program is implemented within FOSIM's Civil Society Program. The Civil Society Program aims at encouraging open society and civil values and principles development by supporting non-governmental organizations and citizens’ initiatives, as well as by advocating and lobbying for implementing the democratic practices and civil participation in public policy making.
