Six concepts for project proposals were presented to the participants in the fourth forum session which took place on Thursday, February 24, in the Municipal Hall of the Municipality Resen, attended by 93 citizens.cetvrta_sesija_resen.jpg
“I expect to see different projects in the field of the environment. From the forum session it is obvious that the citizens are aware of the importance of the environment, especially for a region like Prespa, with its great potential and many opportunities on one hand, and on the other the citizens themselves whose everyday life depends on Lake Prespa with all of these projects that they propose here, at the forum sessions, demonstrate that they do care about the environment", said Ibrahim Mehmeti, representative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, who attended the session.
Working group 1 presented the concept for a project proposal for construction and equipping of a lab to test for the presence of pesticides in human blood, flora, fauna, air, water, and soil.
The equipping of such a lab should provide more information for the citizens regarding the harmful influences of chemicals to the environment and to human health, and control of pollution levels by means of ongoing pesticide concentration tests.
According to the participants, the implementation of this project proposal would require approximately EUR 25,000-30,000.
Working group 2 presented the project proposal for construction of an environmental and educational and sports and leisure center, where its visitors would be educated, especially young people, through various forms of environmental education, thus raising the level of environmental awareness in the population.cetvrta_sesija_resen-1.jpg
The implementation of this project would require approximately EUR 20,000-25,000.
This was followed by a presentation of the concept solution for protection of the river mouth of Golema Reka into Lake Prespa from solid waste from wood processing by means of creating a waste management system that would be used for various citizens' needs and would protect the environment.
The representative of working group four presented an expensive and big project for the town landfill in Resen, which would require approximately MKD 9 million. The making of an access road to the landfill and service roads within the landfill, as well as fencing it, would prevent movement of unauthorized people in the landfill, as well as prevent cattle to enter the landfill thereby endangering not only the health of the animals, but also human health.
Working group five presented the project proposal for construction of sewage in the village Stenje to prevent pollution of Lake Prespa with foul water, which often leaks and pollutes the soil, groundwater, as well as village wells used by the population as a source of drinking water.
The Forum participants had an objection to the budget necessary for implementation of this project, amounting to MKD 15 million, which significantly exceeds the project budget.
Working group six presented the concept solution for construction of new deep wells in Dolna Prespa, which would provide additional quantities of water for the regional waterworks Krushje-Resen-Sirhan and would provide additional quantities of drinking water for the citizens of Resen, especially for those citizens who are the most affected by the lack of drinking water.
The construction of the deep wells would require EUR 50,000-100,000, depending on their number, location, depth, etc.
All six presented concepts for project proposals were adopted by the Forum, thus obtaining support to continue their development into project proposals in the following phases of the forum process.
