Some 70 citizens of the municipality Berovo attended the fourth forum session in Berovo, as part of the Community Forums Programme, which took place on February 18 at the Dedo Ilo Maleshevski elementary school.
At the session, the citizens reported on the feasibility and validity of the problems identified as priority ones by the working groups established in the previous sessions.
“I am pleased to see that my idea and proposal have become a project, and I will continue to fight to make that project work", said Beba Bubevska, retiree from Berovo. The fourth session presented eight concepts for project-proposals: - Finish the construction of a water treatment system for foul water and wastewater in the tourist settlement around Lake Berovo; - Construction and reconstruction of pavements and sewerage in the streets Marshal Tito, Mosha Pijade and Strasho Pindzur, as well as in the streets Prohor Pcinski and 23 Avgust – Romsko Malo; - Finish sewerage disposal system for foul water in the villages Ratevo and Rusinov; - Reconstruction of the multi-purpose sports hall Partizan by means of fencing in the playground adjacent to DI Maleshevski elementary; - Reconstruction of locker rooms in the City Stadium and provision of new content for tourism development, and construction of a sports field in the locality Gerinski Rid; - Construction of embankment on River Bregalnica; - Finish construction work on the Dimitar Berovski Square; - A multi-purpose room for storage and production of props and accessories for cultural events in the village Ratevo. ![]() The total budget of the Programme in the municipality Berovo is MKD 8 million, of which MKD 2 million are provided by the municipality, while MKD 6 million are a donation by SDC. “I was pleased to see the citizens taking an active part in the Forum, debating and offering their opinion. The atmosphere was really good, it's a pity the project is limited in terms of the budget. I like the fact that the common interest is considered, and that there are no partial parts,” said Ibrahim Mehmeti, Head of the National Democratic Governance Programme at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The citizens are content with the forum sessions and hope for even greater success. “There are citizens who are interested, so we will continue to come to the forums and I am hopeful that there will be success,” said Zoran Remenski from the village Ratevo. In addition to Berovo, in this phase the Community Forums Programme is also being implemented in the municipalities Novo Selo, Bitola, Resen, Dolneni, Saraj, Sveti Nikole, and Kochani. |
